Kate Gosselin: My Kids Are "Excited" to Be on TV Again

Clad in a short black cocktail dress with silver embellishments and black strappy high-heel sandals,Kate Gosselin spoke about her upcoming TLC show,Twist of Kate, at the Discovery Communications' NYC Upfront Thursday April 8th.

Reading from a teleprompter, she told the crowd she is "excited" to "share with you the next chapter in my life." The show, which debuts this summer, will follow the single mother, 35, as she raises her eight children, as well as profile other women who are also in their own challenging situations.
Where did the concept come from?
"Every day I hear from women across the country who have incredible stories but are overwhelmed with their lives, asking me for advice on everything from potty training to organization," the current Dancing With the Stars disaster explained. "None have asked for dancing advice, however. Just thought I'd add that.
"So on my new show Twist of Kate, I'm going to spend a few days in their lives experiencing their challenges firsthand and lending a helping hand and maybe even some time off," she went on.
As for her own kids, Gosselin said she's "thrilled" to announce they'll be returning to TV. For some specials this year, she said they'll be "taking some fun trips and having some great adventures. They're very excited."

"It's very difficult," Kate said. "I can't put my life aside and dance for six hours a day. It's not my lack of ability, but lack of presence. I struggle with this every day. But I have determination." The she added, "I will not quit! It's tough, but I am not a quitter."

Kate's partner, Tony Dovolani, told us he is figuring out how to work with Kate and keep her calm, "I try everything in my arsenal. A dance teacher needs to understand the psyche and bring out the best in the student. I strongly believe in her. The very first words she said on our show was, 'I want to win.' I told her today that I still see the possibility of her winning."

'Twist of Kate': Gosselin's new TLC series

TLC announces plans today for the Jon & Kate Plus 8 star to get her own series, Twist of Kate, and to revisit her family life, without ex-husband Jon, in a series of Kate Plus 8 specials. It's part of a plan to build on the channel's growth that also includes Sarah Palin's Alaska, a travelogue series about the state and its high-profile former governor.

In Twist of Kate, Gosselin will use fan letters from women inspired by her story as the basis for profiles of women facing their own challenges. Twelve episodes will start airing in late summer.

I look at it as a loose concept," says Gosselin, who says that despite rumors, she never contemplated dating or talk shows. "I want to be out there learning from others, helping to provide insight whenever I can, though I don't consider myself an expert on anything."

Gosselin will visit the homes and workplaces of everyday people. "She will be in that person's shoes. And more often than not, it's not going to be terribly comfortable for her," says TLC chief Eileen O'Neill. "She's game for things, but she also has limits and boundaries."

Kate Plus 8 was scuttled last year when her ex-husband raised concerns about filming the kids, but the first in a series of specials will air in June, focused on Gosselin's new role as single mom. (Jon has sued Kate for primary custody of their children.)

Gosselin is a true reality-TV superstar and a source of fascination for tabloid magazines that chronicle her mothering skills, her marital woes and her every dance step. Good or bad, her appearance on ABC's Dancing has helped the show earn its biggest season start yet, beating American Idol for the first time two weeks in a row.

"The fact that people really support me and want the kids and I to do well ... is flattering," she says. "I never understood the importance of fans until we struggled and went through tough times."

And those fans are keeping her dancing on ABC despite withering comments from the show's judges. The contest "is very much more mental than physical, willing my mind to be able to withstand the pressure and pull off what I do in rehearsal," she says.

Does she think the judges' criticisms are fair? "No, but it's their option to say what they're going to say."

Court Papers have been filed for Custody of the Children.

Kate Gosselin’s lawyer Mark Momjian fired back at Jon Gosselin’s legal attempt to wrest custody of the couple’s children away from his client in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com.Jon filed legal papers Wednesday seeking primary physical custody of the children and also hoping to modify his child support payments.

Questioning Jon’s motivation, Momjian told RadarOnline.com: “I don’t want to speculate too much on Jon’s motivation but I do think it’s obvious that he seems to time his issues regarding the kids to when Kate is doing well. I mean let’s look at this, he pulled the plug on the reality show when Kate was doing well with the kids. And now that Kate is on Dancing With The Stars and pulling in 20 million viewers he decides to try to amend the custody. Is that a coincidence?”

Turning to the legal arguments Jon raised, Momjian pointed out major flaws. He told RadarOnline.com: “Obviously this filing is procedurally flawed. There are a host of flaws in this filing which we intend to expose loudly and clearly.
"First of all this filing seems incoherent on a number of levels. We’re trying to understand what it says.”

He picked up Jon’s arguments that are based on the divorce arbitrator’s rulings.

Momjian told RadarOnline.com: “What Jon fundamentally misunderstands is that the arbitrator only arbitrated over economic issues in the divorce. He had no jurisdiction over child custody issues.”

Jon argues in his legal papers that he should be allowed to sleep in Kate’s guest house

But Momjian told RadarOnline.com: “The house was awarded to Kate. She owns it. It’s her asset. She controls who goes into that house.

“The issue of Jon visiting the kids at the house or staying in the guest house is Kate’s decision because it’s her home. This is something that they dealt with between the two of them outside of court.

“He doesn’t have any right per se to stay there. Kate allows him to use the guest house when she’s there because it’s something she decided to do.”

He then added: “Let me ask you this, where in the filing does it say where Jon lives? It doesn’t say anything!”

RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that Jon is staying with his brother but is not happy with that situation.

Momjian promised that Kate’s legal team will be filing a response and vigorously defend her position.

Clearly Jon is going to face a brutal legal fight. Momjian told RadarOnline.com: “Kate has been the primary nurturing parent in the kids’ lives since their birth. No one has ever challenged, including Jon, that Kate is a loving parent and puts the kids first.”

Jon Gosselin's Lawyer Attacks Kate's "Hollywood" Parenting Style
http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews/news/jon-gosselins-lawyer-attacks-kates-hollywood-parenting-style-201074

Lawyer Anthony F. List tells X17online that Kate, 35, is "no longer the final arbitrator when it comes to the kids." List recounts a recent phone conversation between the former spouses, who divorced last December after ten years of marriage.

"When Kate Gosselin went back to L.A. for Dancing with the Stars, Jon called her right away and said 'look, I'll move in. I'll watch the kids while you're gone.' Kate said no."

Jon, 33, would also like a judge to reconsider the child support arrangement, which presently has him paying $20,000 a month. "It's ridiculous," List says of the sum. "I don't think Donald Trump could pay that kind of support!"

The attorney explained that he and his client "don't find any fault with [Kate's] lifestyle," which now has her flying to Los Angeles weekly for DWTS.

"Hollywood has had too much influence on the decisions she's made as a mother," List charged. "It's a problem when she stars using the children because she's angry with Jon."

Kate has made a makeshift dance studio in the basement of her home in order to be close to her kids while she rehearses for DWTS. "Putting a gym in her home to practice dancing doesn't make her a good parent," List snipes.

Meanwhile, Kate's attorney Mark Momijan countered to Radaronline: "It's obvious that [Jon] seems to time his issues regarding the kids to when Kate is doing well...Now that Kate is on Dancing With The Stars and pulling in 20 million viewers he decides to try to amend the custody. Is that a coincidence?"

Kate Gosselin Shoots Back, Says She Will Provide for Kids

Kate Gosselin is firing back after her ex husband Jon Gosselin claimed she doesn't spend enough quality time with their eight kids and announced plans to sue for primary physical custody.

"I am not willing to comment in public on the custody discussions regarding my children," Gosselin says in a new statement. "What I will say is this: I am and always will be a mother first, but as a single working mom, I will do everything necessary to provide for my kids despite the opinions of others."

Jon's laywer tells PEOPLE that Kate is an "absentee parent," citing her current stint on Dancing with the Stars which shoots in Los Angeles. "He wants equal say with custody, equal time, but if the circumstances remain as they are, with Kate being rarely home, Jon wants primary custody of the children," says Anthony List Sr.

Meanwhile, Kate's lawyer Mark Momjian tells PEOPLE he has not received a formal filing yet but that "our client is a devoted mother who loves her children very much."

Kate, 35, is about to start a publicity campaign for her new book, I Just Want You To Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family, which is set to be released on April 13.
